Formula 1 faces the second of the two consecutive races now on the schedule. The Silverstone circuit is already ready to host the British Grand Prix, which promises to be highly exciting as it will help shape the direction the world championship will take after George Russell’s resurgence in Austria.
On the sporting front, it seems Mercedes is clearly ahead, but Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari challenged their superiority and closed the gap somewhat to Kimi Antonelli in the drivers’ standings. Max Verstappen has also improved. So it is time to start getting to know the schedules and where to watch the race on TV and online.
There will be Sprint format at Silverstone
Formula 1 arrives at Silverstone with swords drawn. Kimi Antonelli is the world championship leader, but George Russell cut the gap to just 40 points in Austria. Additionally, Lewis Hamilton remains close in the standings, while we witnessed a dramatic improvement in performance from Max Verstappen and Red Bull at home.
So it is not clear whether Ferrari or Mercedes will be the favorite at Silverstone. Perhaps the question is whether George Russell will continue the good momentum at home and start challenging Antonelli before it is too late even to fight for the title. McLaren also needs to step up in the home race.
Silverstone will be another very tough race for Carlos Sainz and Fernando Alonso, as there is not much optimism in either case. At Aston Martin they are simply letting the races pass until the first upgrades arrive, while Williams took a reality check with no points in Barcelona and Austria.
In Britain there is a change of schedules and format as the Sprint returns. The Sunday race will start at 16:00, but qualifying remains one hour later, at 17:00 on Saturday. The key is that there will be a Sprint on Saturday at noon, 13:00, and for it there will be a Sprint qualifying on Friday.
The weather forecast does not predict upheavals at Silverstone, as there is hardly any rain expected for the whole weekend. In fact, very high temperatures are expected for the UK’s usual climate. To watch the race on TV in Spain there are two options, the usual paid options, since this race is not broadcast on free-to-air television.
DAZN continues to hold exclusive TV rights to Formula 1 in Spain, but Movistar Plus+ will continue to relay its signal through DAZN’s thematic channels.
