The Leapmotor B05 is now on sale in Spain. The Chinese brand, part of the Stellantis group, thus expands a range that until now was limited to the urban T03 and the B10 and C10 SUVs.
And it does so with a model that positions itself as one of the cheapest in its segment.
Leapmotor B05, cheaper than a Volkswagen Golf
With an entry price below 23,000 euros for a hatchback the size of a Golf, Leapmotor makes it the cheapest electric compact on the market. The BYD Dolphin starts at 29,940 euros and the MG4 with similar power, from 27,855 euros.
Despite its Chinese origins, the Leapmotor B05 presents a very European design and harmonious proportions, something that doesn’t always happen with models from the Middle Kingdom. The B05 measures 4.43 m in length, 1.88 m in width and 1.52 m in height.
These dimensions place it above its direct rivalses, such as the Renault Megane E-Tech, Peugeot e-308, Opel Astra Electric and MG4, and which, combined with a wheelbase of 2.74 m, translate into a roomy rear cabin. The boot, with 345 liters under the tray, is the weakest point of the proposal.
Onboard, the dashboard is organized around two screens, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch multimedia touchscreen, with hardly any physical controls in sight. The ambient lighting supports multiple colors, the seats are upholstered in synthetic leather and the central console includes wireless charging for the phone.
Mechanically, the B05 shares the Leap 3.5 platform with a 218 hp motor and LFP batteries with the B10 SUV. The Pro version comes with a 56.2 kWh battery and WLTP range of 401 km, while the ProMax increases to 67.1 kWh and reaches 482 km.

In both cases the electric motor is mounted on the rear axle and develops 240 Nm of torque. Fast DC charging allows going from 30% to 80% in 16 minutes for the Pro (140 kW) and 17 minutes for the ProMax (168 kW).
For now, the range centers on the two batteries. The B05 Pro starts at 22,848 euros, includes 19-inch wheels, a digital instrument cluster, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen and Level 2 driver assistance systems.
The ProMax version is not available yet, but it is expected to include a panoramic roof with an electric sunshade, an upgraded audio system. Production for Europe will begin at Stellantis’ plant in Zaragoza from the third quarter of 2026.
