Testing the Porsche Macan GTS: An Electric SUV That Is Fun, Fast in Corners, and the Most Affordable Way to Own a Nearly 600 HP Porsche

April 25, 2026

The Porsche Macan GTS arrives on the market as the fifth version of the German electric SUV, while at the same time representing the most sport‑oriented approach, even if it isn’t the most powerful. We tested it at its international unveiling and here we tell you what we thought of this car that brings the successful GTS concept to the electric SUV world.

Details in Black and a Sporty Look

Aesthetically, the Porsche Macan GTS stands apart from other trims thanks to numerous black details running along its body. The wheel-arch lips are finished in black, the front Matrix LED headlights sit within darkened surrounds, and at the rear the entire lighting cluster is also rendered in black, with a notably large footprint on this model.

The “Electric” lettering on the front fenders and the model designation on the tailgate Macan GTS are likewise in black, just like the window trims.

The black details are present throughout the ensemble and define its style.

Continuing with the theme, the Macan GTS comes standard with 21-inch wheels featuring the Macan Design. They are finished in exclusive anthracite gray. As an option, the 22-inch RS Spyder Design wheels enhance its look and deliver a more fitting design for the model’s positioning, in my view.

The diffuser is specific to this version. With its striking fins, which can be outlined in the body color, they accentuate the car’s sporty character. Another model-specific feature of the Macan GTS is the adaptive rear spoiler, which is equipped with a tiny fixed spoiler painted in gloss black.

The front and rear bumpers also undergo changes to give a more athletic appearance. As a novelty, this bumper design found on all GTS models, called Sport Design Package, will be available as an option for the rest of the Macan lineup.

Finally, there are three main colors for the GTS: Crayon Gray, Carmine Red, and, for the first time in this model, Lugano Blue. In addition, there are 15 standard colors, and Porsche offers nearly 60 additional shades as part of its Paint to Sample program for the Macan GTS.

Spacious, Digitized Interior with Race-Tex

Inside, leather is complemented by Race-Tex matching the exterior color as an option.

The roomy, well-thought-out cabin we first experienced when we tested the new generation of the Porsche Macan a little over a year ago becomes a luxury cockpit with high-quality materials in this GTS variant.

Race-Tex (similar to Alcantara) is used on much of the interior, for example covering the roof and the supporting pillars. It’s also present on the sporty GT multifunction heated steering wheel, the central console armrests, large areas of the door panels and the dashboard.

Race-Tex is also used in the adjustable sport seats, which offer 18-way adjustment, paired with leather on the lateral supports and headrests embroidered with GTS.

Inside, the Macan GTS offers an optional color-coordinated interior/exterior combination. This package is available in Carmine Red, Neo Slate Gray, and Lugano Blue to match the respective exterior paints.

A deluxe instrument panel can be equipped, with the optional co-driver display enabling even video games or videos to be played. Standard, the instrument cluster is a curved 12.6-inch screen and the central display measures 10.9 inches.
