The GMC Hummer EV is one of the wildest yet most technologically advanced EVs on the road today. The model helped revive a brand once known for its gas-guzzling ways and gave GM a potent talking point when the current EV segment was beginning to take shape. We even enjoyed it when we took one for a drive back in 2022.
But even the wildest of vehicles need updates to help them stand up to the rigors of time and GMC chose to give the Hummer some minor but welcome updates for the 2026 model year including the debut of a new Carbon Fiber Edition.
Hummer Carbon Fiber Edition adds style and slick paint

A big change is the addition of a new Carbon Fiber Edition model to the lineup. Admittedly, the visual changes for these models are a little tricky to spot with the core exterior styling being largely identical to past Hummers. However, these versions get 22-inch carbon fiber wheels, carbon accents on the mirrors and skidplate, and an exclusive matte paint color called Magnus Grey.

GMC chose to not dive into how much weight the infusion of carbon fiber cut from the big EV but with a standard Hummer weighting over 9,000 lbs, expect the weight savings (if any) to be barely noticeable with these carbon fiber touches being meant more for style than outright function. The interior gets Velocity Ember red accents and the 13.4-inch display can now provide a split-view layout for improved access to key information. The Super Cruise system has been upgraded too but for now, we get to wait to hear the full scope of the upgrades that GM made to the feature.
King Crab mode promises improved handling

Another big feature is the introduction of the evolved version of the “Crab Walk” feature. Dubbed “King Crab,” it takes its name from the King Crab which is one of the biggest crustaceans on earth, and promises improved off-road prowess with GMC engineers saying the King Carb version of the system can turn the rear wheels “significantly faster” than the front wheels though we get to wait and see just what GMC means by that. King Carb Mode will be standard on the 2 and 3X models with the rest of the Hummer lineup getting it later this year via an over-the-air software update.
The 2026 GMC Hummer EV will arrive later this summer, built at the company’s Factory Zero assembly plant in Hamtramck, Michigan. Expect pricing and range figures in a few months, as it gets closer to arrival at dealers. Pricing for the 2025 Hummer EV pickup starts from $99,045 so expect the Carbon Fiber Edition models to continue being GMC’s halo model moving forward.
