2023 Subaru Legacy Gets Light Updates, New Sport Trim And Technology

With the 2023 Outback getting its share of mild updates, it was only a matter of time before its sedan counterpart the 2023 Legacy would get its turn under the knife. Subaru used the occasion to spruce things up a bit while also adding some new moves to the Legacy’s repertoire as well.

New Sport Trim Highlights Legacy Exterior Design Changes

The 2023 Legacy received some updates to the exterior styling with the headlights, front grille and the lower bumper all being worked on. The changes pop out more when you look at the all-new Sport trim for the Legacy. An STI it’s not, but it does stand out by equipping the car with trim exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels, a red stripe along the front grille, and a rear trunk-mounted spoiler. A 2.4-liter turbocharged engine is standard and the model even comes with a “sport-tuned” suspension.

The interior comes in black two-tone cloth with red accents and all the equipment on it is lifted over from the Premium model but the Sport goes a small step further by adding LED foglights, a navigation system, and a power moon roof. A massive 11.6-inch infotainment screen is also standard on higher-grade models and now comes equipped with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The heated steering wheel apparently received some attention too with Subaru reps claiming that the whole wheel will heat up versus only key touchpoints on the sides.

When Can I Buy One?

Subaru did not release pricing for the 2023 Legacy as of this writing, but look for the first models to make there way to dealerships sometime this fall. We also look forward to hearing more about some of the finer details that will define the Legacy including the same what3words technology that will be equipped to the Outback. Subaru hasn’t revealed the full extent of the system’s abilities just yet, but the company did promise that it will be able to help guide owners to trailheads, scenic outlooks, and other locations and then share them to others digitally.
