The Cadillac Lyriq Debut Edition is just now beginning to make its way to dealerships, but the luxury automaker is now opening up more on what buyers can expect from other members of the Lyriq family. That includes the all-wheel-drive version of the model which will bring more performance to buyers looking for more zoom to go with their zero-emission commute.
Beefier Lyriq Promises To Deliver The Performance Goods
The new information came during a Q&A session that Cadillac hosted via its Instagram page. The brand confirmed that by the end of the year the all-wheel-drive version will enter production with the dual motored version producing 500 hp. That’s a noticeable jump over the 340 hp seen in the single motor version that underpins the Debut edition and would allow the model to be closer to the 480 hp Ford Mustang Mach-E GT, as well as the 516 hp BMW IX. Cadillac confirmed that it can tow up to 3,500 lbs, but stopped short of offering a torque figure for the EV setup in this model.
This comes as Cadillac is preparing to open the order books for the models that will come after the sold-out Lyriq Debut Edition in two weeks with Cadillac hoping that it can replicate some of the success that it saw with the spearhead Debut Edition models. At that time, Cadillac claimed that it had received over 230,000 pre-orders “expressions of interest” in Cadillac speak) and it will be interesting to see if Cadillac can surpass that number for the rest of the model lineup. Look for more information to emerge on the new variant in a few weeks and we look forward to seeing what kind of range the all-wheel-drive Lyriq gets though we suspect it’ll be less than the 312 miles of range that an RWD version was rated at by the EPA.
