With the 2022 Honda Civic sedan generating waves on Twitch when it was first unveiled, it was only a matter of time before the 2022 Civic Hatchback version got into the act, with Honda providing the world a brief glimpse of the new variant ahead of its June 23rd debut when the model will be unveiled during the Civic Tour “Remix” Concert series.
Civic Hatchback To Feature Euro Influenced Styling
Honda’s lone teaser image does not leave much to the imagination, but it does appear to show that it’s taking the hatchback’s design very seriously with the profile appearing to borrow cues from the iconic Volkswagen Golf hatchback. With the fore-mentioned Volkswagen no longer being offered on U.S. soil (minus the GTI) the 2022 Civic Hatchback will have a perfect opportunity to lure some of these former owners into the fold, with the company claiming that it will be arriving with a number of welcome youth-focused features.
We suspect that will translate into the bulk of the sedan’s design character shining through albeit with some minor tweaks to accommodate the unique rear styling. The interior will also largely be copied and pasted from the sedan which should please buyers that were fans of the four-door’s infusion of youthful expression and high levels of refinement. Honda is also promising that a 6-speed manual will be available on the hatchback which is an interesting move considering that the shift-it-yourself option has been seeing a recent slide in sales over the past few decades.
When Can I Buy A Civic Hatchback?
Honda is not quite ready to dive into the availability of the 2022 Civic Hatchback just yet and we will have to wait until the five-door is formally unveiled on June 23rd. When the hatchback does arrive, it will also be the building blocks for the next-generation Type R model. Honda is promising some radical shifts in direction for the fire-breathing Civic variant and we are curious to see what Honda designers will do when crafting the 2022 model’s lines into an exciting canvas that can draw plenty of stares and enhance practical performance at the same time.
In the meantime we look forward to hearing some of the artists that Honda will have at the “Remix” tour with Honda revealing that H.E.R and famous R&B duo Majid Jordan will headline the event.
