2021 Durango R/T Tow N Go

Review

Dodge is a standout among manufacturers today. Offering gobs of power in a variety of vehicles with a stick it to the man attitude has made Dodge one of the few remaining companies willing to pay out fines for poor fuel economy to give the people what they want. The R/T Tow N Go is the performance oriented Durango for those who can’t justify the insanity of the SRT or Hellcat, but still want to have fun. It also gives the driver the possibility of towing a significant 8,700 pounds. Is the Durango the ultimate family hauler?

Towing with the Durango R/T

Dodge has really made driving fun again for the whole family. Think of the Durango R/T Tow N Go as the lowest level SRT Durango. The next step up is the SRT with the 6.4 Hemi and then of course the top dog, Hellcat with the 6.2 supercharged 710 horsepower. All three of these can tow 8,700 lbs. We took the R/T out with a 4,600 pound trailer to see how well it handles towing a sizeable load. The Durango surprised us with its stability and composure while under load. Standard with a trailer brake controller, a tow mode button that adjusts the AWD system, transmission, traction control and other features, and powerful brakes for bringing everything to a stop.
