2021 Hyundai Elantra To Officially Debut March 17th In L.A. [Video]

A new Hyundai Elantra is indeed on the way, with numerous sightings of testers all over the world hinting that something is indeed cooking within the halls of the South Korean automaker. With the Elantra’s debut fast approaching, Hyundai has released a couple of teaser images to provide a small taste of what is to come, and also revealed that the revamped four door will be making its debut on March 17th.

The arrival of this iteration of Elantra is a much needed boost to the nameplate, with the current generation model receiving some criticism for its odd exterior styling, which was considered to be a step backward for the model. The teaser images appear to indicate that Hyundai designers went out of their way to bring some style and much needed substance to the Elantra, with the images featuring a four door coupe with very dramatic bodylines. A coupe like roofline is also part of the package, but look for this offering to not abandon its four door sedan roots which should please traditional four door buyers. The rest of the design has a very angular motif, with the Elantra sharing a lot of its character with the redesigned Hyundai Sonata. This includes the taillights, as well as the angular styling elements scattered about. The front grille in particular is very large, and it allows the car to be in line with the rest of Hyundai’s current design language. As a bonus, this fresh infusion of style would also allow the Elantra to stand out better against the Honda Civic as well as the Volkswagen Jetta.

The interior of the 2021 Elantra (at least in rendering form) also shares Sonata traits, but it also brings a high degree of minimalism to the atmosphere, with a large touchscreen that seamlessly meshes together with a possible digital instrument display for the driver. For the moment, there appears to be no buttons anywhere on either the dashboard or the door panel, with only some toggle switches on the steering wheel being the only controls visible. Of course, this is only a teaser image and a rendering to boot, so we expect that the dashboard will eventually follow the same script and be adorned with its fair share of buttons, as well as the latest iteration of Hyundai’s UVO infotainment system.

As mentioned, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra will make its world debut on March 17th at the Lot Studios in West Hollywood with a press conference/livestream event set to take place at 7:00 PM PDT (10:00 PM EST.) Hyundai claims that after the 2021 Elantra debuts and has a chance to go on what’s left of the 2020 Auto Show Circuit, it will begin shipping out to dealerships starting in September. In the meantime, Hyundai has released a brief teaser video which can be seen below.
