2020 BMW 330i M Sport xDrive – First Drive Review Video & Photo Gallery

A rainy morning in hilly northern Wisconsin was the perfect time and place to try out the new BMW 3 series with AWD.  This redesign was sure to be pretty excellent – focused on the interior roominess and luxury, and maintaining the excellent pace and agility that the sedan perfected generations ago.

We flogged its turbo four to really feel the 5.3-second sprint to 60-mph and came out grinning. The xDrive AWD models have the same turbo four as the rear-drive models but this time tuned with about 80 extra pound-feet of torque. BMW has done this for years and it makes the AWD four-cylinders the ones to go for if you like big power off the line.

Yes, the looks are hard to swallow are first. Especially the active-shuttered grille that looks like a fake intake (a la 1990s Chrysler Sebring coupe) and the taillights that look right off the Lexus RC.  And the profile and lower door slashes look eerily similar to the 2015-current Infiniti Q50.

But the proportions are better than ever with a big increase in width and a longer hood than before too. Still ultra-chopped overhangs and still alot of good BMW DNA in there under the fluff.

But this is truly an excellent piece of engineering and a car you’d enjoy driving every day until 2030 or beyond.  Watch the drive review video and enjoy this set of around 30 photos of the new 330i M Sport in the misty morning at Road America in Elkhart Lake.
