When Hyundai first revealed that they were releasing another utility model in time for the 2019 New York Auto Show, we were curious to see what exactly the Korean car giant had in mind. While the original batch of teaser images preferred to showcase the Venue’s design inspiration (versus the CUV itself,) this time around, Hyundai released several teaser sketches that help shed just a bit more light on what we can expect from the Venue when it eventually makes its debut in the flesh.
From what we can see, it appears that the Venue will share a lot of its styling DNA with Hyundai’s other crossovers, and is certainly more conventional looking than the otherworldly Kona. The sketches admittedly do exaggerate some details for the sake of drawing attention, but the hood line does flow nicely into a sharp crease that flows all the way around the car, and it even appears to underline a fin shaped C-pillar as it makes its way towards the rear of the car.
The interior sketches also showcase a cabin that has a very crisp and clean design, with some elements of the bigger Santa Fe being baked into its layout. A medium sized touchscreen is flanked by a pair of stylish air vents, and even the shifter appears to have a sporty yet technical flair to its presentation. The same drawings also confirm that Apple CarPlay will be standard issue on the Venue. We assume that Android Auto will also be on board to not only give the Venue the flexibility it needs to appeal to young buyers on the go, but to also follow the tire tracks laid out by other Hyundai models that offer both setups to buyers.
Unfortunately the sketches don’t shed any artistic light on what engines could be possibly powering the Venue, but look for that information to be revealed when the Venue makes its official debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show on April 17th. We are also keen to hear on how the Venue’s fuel economy numbers stack up to some of its rivals, especially considering that fuel economy and mileage are rapidly becoming key buying points for CUV buyers that want more than just utility and seating capacity in their family vehicle purchase.
