2016 Chevrolet Trax Midnight Edition is Coolest $500 Style Upgrade … Ever?

Nobody will preach the virtues of a black pack like ThisGuy!

A properly de-chromed and blacked-out look can make even the most awful Jetta SportWagen a little bit stylish… so clearly the potential to improve already-modern and stylish rides?

HUGE!

And the more popular a car is on the roads, the more appealing it is for some buyers to stand up and stand out from the crowd.  DIY black packs work wonders in photoshop — and real life — on GM models in particular.  We’ve shared many with you here… an ATS black pack coupe dream, CT6 Black Tie limo and even a blacked-out GMC 2500HD All Terrain.

It is stellar to see Chevy taking action and getting in on this trend — letting an all-new and all-factory-original car drip with the style of much trendier boutique creations….

The Trax LTZ Midnight Edition is coming very soon — with cars arriving by the end of February. The $500 (LTZ-only) upgrade dips the wheels, door handles, sill accent and window trims in a giant pot of glossy black paint — effectively dechroming all the brightwork for the great-selling compact SUV.  Dechromed from the back, at least.  We have not seen the nose of the Trax Midnight yet, but Chevy does not mention alterations on this angle.

There may also be color restrictions for the Midnight Edition — limited to black or white models, perhaps, similar to special Silverados.  Lack of tweaks to the nose and possible restrictions are a shame — the black look is just as effective on maroon or green cars, at least to our very-trendy eyes!  Finally, why just the LTZ loaded trims?

But overall — thrilled!  So happy to see the Trax Midnight on the road to buyers.

New Midnight Edition adds distinction to small SUV

DETROIT – Chevrolet today announced the 2016 Trax Midnight Edition – a blacked-out styling statement for the small SUV, offering customers a bold choice and adding to the momentum of the brand’s record 2015 crossover sales.

Based on the LTZ trim, the Midnight Edition features black wheels, bezels, beltline molding and door handles, along with a black rear license plate applique. Inside, the seats are trimmed with gray accents and the floor mats feature gray piping.

“Introduced just a year ago, the Trax has quickly become an important vehicle for Chevrolet, bringing in new, younger and more female buyers to the brand,” said Betsy Flegg, senior marketing manager, Chevrolet Crossovers. “The small SUV segment is the fastest growing in the industry and models such as the new Trax Midnight Edition provides customers an expressive option.”

Trax sales were 57,707 for the first 11 months of 2015, placing it second in the segment, with almost 20-percent market share. Chevrolet crossover sales were up 35 percent for the same period.

Fusing small-car agility and utility convenience of an SUV, Trax offers up to 48.4 cubic feet of cargo space. A 1.4L turbocharged engine offers the efficiency of a small displacement engine – an EPA-estimated 34 mpg highway (FWD models) – with the power of a larger engine on-demand. Connectivity features include an available 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.

Trax is joined by a full complement of Chevy crossovers and SUVs including the Equinox, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban.

The Trax Midnight Edition goes on sale in late February 2016, with a package price of $500, in addition to the Trax LTZ’s $26,125 suggested retail price (MSRP includes destination charge, but excludes tax, title and other dealer fees).
