Many would point to the Lamborghini Countach as the world’s first hypercar — a vehicle so extreme, it sent even seminal supercars like the Miura to the backburner of automotive daydreaming.
This beautiful 1981 LP400S is arguably one of the greatest examples in the car’s 30-year production run.
What makes this particular vehicle so special? Its lovely, original condition and its eye-popping sunflower yellow paintwork.
Yellow is a famous shade for the Countach — the original concept wore this same bright shade ten years before.

The original engine and turbocharger parts are all included in the sale, but the Countach as it stands is naturally-aspirated, as it was originally. In addition to the LM002 'Lambo Rambo' truck from the 1980s, the Urus SUV concept from 2012 let its intentions be shouted to the rooftops. The latest bit of news comes from the Lamborghini media preview invite for October 2: a profile showing a short and tall model unlike anything mid-engined. So what will it be? The production URUS is widely believed to be what is coming. A 600-horsepower four-seat crossover based on the Macan? Pricing from $120,000 and arrival in May 2015 as a 2016 model? We say... don't meet your hero cars unless you can also drive them! As a static piece, this very special 1989 Countach sits awkwardly among giant 60s musclecars. It is tiny in the flesh. Much, much smaller than you would imagine. At least two feet narrower in back than the DIablo or Murcielago, let alone the fairly gigantic Aventador. And you've all heard the cabin is impossible to enter or exit. This is true. We weren't expecting to be SO, SO SMASHED inside once in though. Enter the wrapping boutique Fostla.de -- forever experimenting with the latest mirrored and color films for their chic clientelle. Perhaps. But almost as appealing. After 25 years to appreciate the LM002's overt masculinity, dreamer-spec engine and mechanicals, and before-its-time superlux offroader credentials --- the LM002 looks like a new shape of timeless classic supercar to us. The style and chassis template the 246GT brought to market evolved into the mid-engine supercar Ferrari's we know and love today. The 1954 Siata Torino 200CS. It has the elegance of many Maserati's, but also the purpose and aeronautical inspiration that made the Aston Martin DB3 and DB4 such hits. And what is this!? No cutlines whatsoever in the back bubble fastback?! Hidden headlamps? These might be the second-ever application of pop-up headlights since they made their first aero-inspired appearance in the Cord 810 of the 1930s. The elegance of a pure, clean upper hood edge would come in vogue by the 1970s, and ride the wave through… Gooding Amelia 2015 – 1973 Lamborghini Espada Series III Earns $99k March 30, 2015, 6 pm Lamborghini has its roots in front-engine GT cars -- but they are consistently some of the least-loved V12 Italian exotics in history. One look at the profile of this long 1970s timecapsule does most of the explaining -- it is ungainly and alarmingly awkward in its proportions. This might have to do with its supercar designers -- Marcello Gandini and Bertone were more well-versed in mid-engine hypercar wedges than they were in practical, roomy cruisers. The Espada III is the best of the line, with these models packing air conditioning and wood-rimmed cabin details, but not the jumbo bumpers… RM Paris 2016 – 1974 Maserati Bora 4.9 December 27, 2015, 8 pm Ahh, the Bora.
