Ferrari Pebble Beach 2015 – Record-Breaking Classics + New Cali T Special, Sergio and 488GTB!

Ferrari really went all-out for the 2015 Pebble Beach Concours. The marque was specially honored and featured for classics and concours events this year, which is actually a fairly new phenom in the concours circuit. Think of it as perhaps evolving from such a pre-war focus.

Along with cars on the lawn and a smashing auction results list, Ferrari brought out its big guns in terms of new metal. Everything but the FXX K and upcoming 488 Spider made an appearance via official displays. (This is in contrast to McLaren mania last year.)

The big reveal was a Tailor Made California T with bordeaux vintage-design details. The cabin is a loud pairing of cream and dark rouched leathers. The seats and that huge panel of button-clasp leather is a throw-back to an iconic Italian chair from the 1960s, by the way.

You may prefer the Tailor Made custom Cali Turbo in white from Goodwood.

The new 488 GTB is gorgeous in fly yellow over gloss black.

The limited-run Pininfarina Sergio in a trademark blue also makes a fabulous photo partner for the 375MM Best in Show from 2014.

Ferrari Pebble Beach 2015

At Pebble Beach, a classic yet contemporary Tailor Made California T

A new classic is born. On Sunday, August 16th at Pebble Beach, Ferrari displayed its latest Tailor Made masterpiece: A dark red California T with an ivory roof. This California T brilliantly demonstrates the versatility of the Ferrari Tailor Made program, that allows clients to work hand-in-glove with the Ferrari design team to conceive their ideal car.

The Concours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach is one of the most prestigious classic car events of the automotive calendar. So, it seems fitting that the Tailor Made California T exhibited here was classically inspired. The exterior in “Rosso Ferrari” is in the exact shade of the very first Ferrari ever, the 125 S , boldly underlining the elegant silhouette of the California T. Despite its vintage influence, this California T is by no means retro. The chrome front grille, ball polished rims and black brake calipers give it a sleek, contemporary look. The roof in ivory “250 Europa GT” provides a sophisticated if unexpected contrast.

But what makes this California T spectacular are the luxuriously crafted interiors, carefully chosen and studied in painstaking detail. The Tailor Made program takes many of its cues from the world of interior design, and this car is a striking example. The interiors feel like a well-appointed reading room or study. In a subtle reference to a design classic, the bordeaux leather seats, reminiscent of the iconic Dezza chairs by Giò Ponti, are accented with ivory diamante detailing and leather inserts. The opulence of the leather is juxtaposed by the cool glossy chrome accents on the dashboard and bridge create. The steering wheel is also fashioned in bordeaux leather, as are parts of the dashboard and the doors.

This year Ferrari had the privilege of being the featured automotive marque on the lawn at the Councours d’Elegance at Pebble Beach. This Tailor Made California T was on display on the exclusive first tee, a great example of how the Ferrari Design team can interpret classic influences in a thoroughly contemporary way.

Ferrari Honored At Pebble Beach

A 250 LM Coupé sold for 17,6 million $

Pebble Beach, 17 August – It was an extraordinary day at the 65th Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, considering the coastline’s reputation for thick morning fog and chilly temperatures: it was clear skies from dawn and temperatures near 30 C! The field of competitors on the Concours lawn was just as spectacular, including more than forty Ferraris in four special classes created for this year’s Honored Marque, including Ferrari Grand Touring; Ferrari Competition; Ferrari in the Pebble Beach Road Races; and Ferrari Preservation. In the end, Best In Show honors were awarded to a 1924 Isotta Frashini Tipo 8A, a grand old car for an equally grand occasion.

As tradition dictates, Ferraris from past and present delighted the crowds at the First Tee at the Pebble Beach Links. A Ferrari California T in unique Tailor Made livery — Rosso Ferrari 53 –- set the stage. It was flanked an F12berlinetta draped in Argento Nurburgring and, in Giallo Modena, the star of Monterey Car Week this year, the 488 GTB. Not to be outdone, the adjacent stage featured the few-off limited-edition Sergio, dedicated of course to design icon Sergio Pininfarina; and last year’s Best In Show winner, the 1954 575 MM Scaglietti Coupe.

At the auctions, prices realized for masterpieces from Maranello continued their skyward trajectory. So far, 3 of the 5 cars commanding the most significant prices throughout all the auctions have been Ferraris, with top honors going to the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM Coupe sold by RM Sotheby’s for $17.6 million (USD). As the auctions enter the final stretch, no doubt Ferrari will continue to shatter expectations.
