After years in the doldrums, Acura’s latest ILX and TLX are seriously good. They are focused and playful, fun and well-equipped. Nearly any sense of Honda sharing among platforms and tech is now banished as the brand doubles down on its shield grille.
Somehow, even the much-maligned grille detail looks better in the context of the new NSX supercar.
The RDX is a big grower for Acura: its sales have ramped up month over month, even while it is slightly shaded by the MDX in terms of awareness.
That lack of a unique identity looks set to change with the 2016 model. Though it still looks quite similar to the MDX among most people, the RDX is actually far more right-sized for most buyers. With dimensions close to the Lexus RX, the Acura RDX is pretty hug versus its premium mid-size competition like the BMW X3 or Lincoln MKC.
A standard V6 and big cabin width make this feel like a full-size SUV up front. The standard 3.5-liter V6 is also impressive versus any mini turbo motor.
