We can’t help but feel slightly honored, as this crowd-sourced contest shares some similarities with out long-running #NameThatCar and #NameThatConcept postings on the Car Revs Daily Facebook page.
But hey, Camaro fans might all think alike =]
The special edition SS will be on sale soon after the SEMA show under the working name of Spring Special Edition (new name is TBD of course), so get those name ideas tagged and tweeted before November!

We think you do! In honor of National Name Your Car Day, General Motors (GM) wants its fans to help name the 2015 Camaro Spring Special Edition. If your name passes the test of experts at Chevrolet, you will etch your place in the history books and will assuredly be known by all of your friends as the person who named a special edition Camaro.
Check out these sneak peek videos of the 2015 Camaro Spring Special to get the creative juices flowing, and buckle up for some pure, unbridled naming fun. So starting October 2, 2014 and going through October 5, 2014, head over to the Chevrolet Twitter Channel and the Chevrolet Camaro Facebook page and hand over your best ideas using #NameThatCamaro. While we do encourage you to use this space as an open forum, we ask that you always respect the opinions of fellow community members. We put together some simple guidelines to follow when joining the #NameThatCamaro Community:
- Submissions cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about Chevrolet or any of its products, or other people, products or companies or communicate messages inconsistent with the positive images and/or goodwill to which Chevrolet associates in GM’s sole discretion.
- Submissions must be suitable for family audiences and for display and publication on national television, in the sole determination of GM. Without limitation, submissions shall not contain any content that is or contains: unlawful behavior, profanity, explicit sexuality, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, tortious, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, libelous, or is hatefully, racially, ethnically or otherwise offensive or objectionable.
- All submissions will become the sole property of GM. By making a submission, Submitter assigns all right, title and interest he/she has in and to the submission to GM. Submitters will not be compensated for GM’s use of any ideas submitted as part of #NameThatCamaro and will take no action to interfere with GM’s exercise of its ownership rights in the submissions including, without limitation, registration of any submission in its own name.
- Submitters agree to release GM from any and all claims, damages or liabilities arising from or relating to such submitter’s participation in #NameThatCamaro and GM’s use of any submission.
Fans Invited to Name 2015 Camaro Special Edition
SS model with exclusive Emerald Green Metallic color to debut at SEMA
DETROIT – As part of National Name Your Car Day, Chevrolet is inviting enthusiasts to name a special-edition Camaro SS that will make its public debut at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. The new model will arrive at dealers in the first quarter of 2015, wearing an exclusive Emerald Green Metallic exterior color along with other unique exterior features.
Suggestions can be submitted at twitter.com/Chevrolet and at facebook.com/chevycamaro, using the tag #NameThatCamaro.
Chevrolet will announce the name next month, when the vehicle publicly debuts at the SEMA Show, the world’s largest trade show of automotive personalization and performance.
“Chevrolet has made a tradition of offering special-edition models each spring, but this is the first time we’ve turned to the community of Camaro fans to name it,” said Todd Christensen, Camaro marketing manager. “We can’t think of a better way to involve the owners and enthusiasts who have made it the segment’s best-selling sports car for four years running.”
The special-edition Camaro SS will be offered in coupe and convertible models with 2SS trim. In addition to the exclusive Emerald Green Metallic exterior, the package includes:
RS Appearance Package, including high-intensity discharge headlamps, light-emitting diode, or LED, taillamps, RS-specific front upper grille, body-color roof moldings and body-color antenna
Chrome Dusk 21-inch accessory wheels (20-inch polished wheels for export models)
Body-color SS hood extractor (standard finish is black)
Body-color accessory ground effects package
Body-color ZL1 rear spoiler
Cyber Gray rally stripes.
All models will feature a black interior with Graphite Silver door panel and instrument panel inserts. A black top will be included with convertible models.
Optional content will include a sunroof, dual-mode exhaust (except export models), navigation radio and Chevrolet Performance short-throw shifter.
Performance comes from a 6.2L V-8 rated at 426 horsepower (318 kW) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) in models with the standard six-speed manual transmission, and 400 horsepower (298 kW) and 410 lb-ft (556 Nm) for models equipped with the available six-speed automatic transmission.
