Widely known as one of the most influential racecars of the early 1950s, this delicate little A6GCS influenced future icons like the Jaguar C-Type, Ferrari 250 and the AC Ace — among many others.
The straight-size layout delivered just 168-horsepower from its 2.0-liter displacement, but lightweight aircraft aluminum in the chassis and bodyshell delivered some stunning specs all the same. The 60-mph sprint is just 6.3-seconds, while the top speed is a frankly-terrifying 148-mph.
The beauty and grace of the design is perhaps this Alfieri GCS MM’s legacy. The A6 in the name stands for Alfieri, by the way, and the MM for Mille Miglia. This was a rally car in its day, as most racing organizations were not yet up and humming since a long pause during and after WWII in the early 1950s.
Hand-shaped panels mean no two are exactly alike, and all have their design highlights. For a Barchetta roadster with coachwork by Fantuzzi, this A6GCS is in the right company with the official Maserati display at Pebble Beach 2014.
