2014 Nissan GT1 Concept Details Revealed – NC2020 Vision Gran Turismo

2014 Nissan GT1 Concept Details Revealed – NC2020 Vision Gran Turismo

Update1 – June 16, 2014

The details are out! But they are not complete yet – no specs accompany this brief. Stay tuned.

Last week’s teaser image created quite a media buzz, with everyone speculating left and right about this machine as ‘the next GT-R’ in headlines.

It is tempting to do! These ideas are seriously fresh, and these three more high-res angles confirm it is a front-midship design.

That was not certain from the front three-quarter teaser last week.

DESIGN BRIEF

Low-drag but high-downforce.

The design is so aero-focused that it takes study to appreciate. All I’m saying is not to dismiss it on the fenders alone. This car is low and wide and wild. It has amazing design ideas.

There a re at least five cut-out areas all over the machine – with bodywork leaving big air gaps under spoilers and air ducts.

These functional elements are paired with sharp peaks and soft valleys in the body shaping- making this car look outstanding in the process.

YouTube commenters are the meanest people on Earth, but the top comment I saw on the video was pretty humorous.

Introducing the 458 Aventador-San. Looks insane, like a mash up of an Aventador, 458 Italia and GTR

Sidebar: Commenters on YouTube are cut-throat. My most scathing comment?

Someone said after one of my drives…  “More car, Less You.”

Back to the NC2020 Vision Gran Truismo

I personally adore the sheer surfaces contrasted with the absence of bodywork, such as behind the front wheel-well area.

Other aspects of the car will take study. It is very beautiful, but very very new.

INITIAL DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS

– Even more cab-back than the current GT-R

– nose is pure beauty, especially vanes in front wings.

– carved door panel shaping is wild

– rear wheel covered at leading edge by gloss-black cylinder shape

– taillights are very cool almost 4D in their layout and design, cross-hatch of LED lit areas make the ring very intriguing

– exhaust ports ahead of doors!

– whole tail is mesmerizing, especially the rear deck

Nissan and PlayStation reveal future vision

Virtual supercar created to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the legendary Gran Turismo® driving franchise

  • NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo hints at the future

  • 2+2 virtual supercar with advanced aerodynamic body

NASHVILLE. Tenn. – Nissan today lifts the virtual covers off the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo, a vision of what a high performance Nissan could look like in the future. It was created through close collaboration with the creators of Gran Turismo®, Polyphony Digital Inc., the legendary PlayStation® driving franchise.

NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo began life as dream project for Nissan designers who were given free rein to create their dream supercar for their own Gran Turismo fantasy garage.

Created by a team of young designers at Nissan Design Europe, in London, England, the model was considered to have so much potential that it has benefited from input from an advanced engineering team based at Nissan Technical Centre in Atsugi, Japan.

As a result, NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo gives hints as to how a supercar of the future might look.

In July, automotive enthusiasts will be able to discover that performance first-hand when it becomes available to download in Gran Turismo®6, just as they did with the NISSAN GT-R and Skylines from earlier episodes of the historic franchise. That performance heritage and commitment to delivering excitement for enthusiasts is why there are Nissan vehicles in the franchise.

But as a specialist in automotive design in three-dimensions, Nissan believes that the real-world is ready for the NISSAN CONCEPT 2020 Vision Gran Turismo. Watch this space…

Nissan GT1 Vision GranTurismo

What is this high-performance creature!?

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this photo on Nissan’s press site today. The car could be dubbed the GT1 or perhaps the NC2020 — short for Nissan Concept 2020, we imagine. Nothing is certain.

The only word is that Nissan will tell us more next Monday, June 16th.

Our hunch is that this might be the next installment of the Vision GranTurismo concept car series – liket he VW Vision GTI Roadster and dozens of other custom machines made for GT6 drivers.

This would make sense – Nissan also released an amazing poster last week of the 160 Nissan cars playable in the game, with a silk sheet over the most recent addition.

Exciting times in the Nissan motorsports and performance world, to be sure: Nissan recently announced a formal LMP1 bid for LeMans 2015. Very exciting stuff.
