Mercedes brings its own vintage plaid to Pebble Beach and the next SL as well

Sorry, but the SL preview was strictly eyes-only. There were two notable, new features never found on any previous SLs, and both of which are aft of the front seats. More on that later. But if you could not make it to Monterey Car Week, and shame of you, make it a bucket list item, then here are my photos of the Mercedes pavilion this year. Champagne as always is free flowing at so many events, if that helps anyone motivate to get to the events.

BRABUS 800 Mercedes-AMG E63-S and Widebody AMG GTS in Emerald Green by Fostla.de

Had to post this beaut because the E63 is one of my all-time favorite cars.  And one cranked up to 800 by Brabus and wrapped in green?  It just pushes all my buttons! As a bonus, also including one of Fostla’s other recent greenies: a widebody AMG GTS!   BRABUS 800 Mercedes-AMG E63-S by Fostla.de A BRABUS 800 IN EMERALD-GREEN-MATTE by FOSTLA.DE Photos: fostla.de concepts  Vehicles from the noble tuner BRABUS – by the way, a neologism from the two founders’ names Klaus Brackmann and Bodo Buschmann – in Bottrop one usually sees in black, and mainly Mercedes-Benz models. 860HP RXR One is AMG GT-S by IMSA GmbH

How furious would you be this year if you bought an AMG GT last year??  Same goes for the 675LT McLaren they are still trying to sell next to the new-face 720S. The new AMG GT-R is a hard upgrade of the original. RXR One is IMSA of Germany’s take on upgrading the softer GT and GT-S cars to track-attack road spec. The result is unique, aggressive and clearly brings huge amounts of racing knowledge to bear on the GT’s design.  Loving its widebody bumper intakes and outlets.   Centerlock alloys and red-striped Pirellis complete a solid racecar look.   RXR …

2017 Mercedes-Benz Concept A – Debuts Fresh Design in Shanghai

This new Mercedes-Benz concept feels a bit disingenuous.  On the one hand, we have a clear look at the next CLA-Class compact sedan.   But on the other, we have a heavy-handed effort to link this piglet with the 4-door AMG GT Concept.  Aka, the full hog. AMG GT CONCEPT Actually, we take most of that back.  The look of this Concept A is endlessly charming.  Its new LeMans-type grille with vertical slats meets ultra slimline LED headlights.  Wide intakes below leave no doubt as to how turbocharged and speedy MB’s always are. Could the LEDs up front be even …

2.8s 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT Concept – LIVE Geneva Debut in 40 Pics

Does this car live up to its preshow hype!?  YES! A four-door fastback supercar with the space of Panamera but the speed of 911 Turbo? Quite a potent blend. The concept wears much body adornment and even a hybrid ERS powertrain teaser.  But this shape is certainly en route to buyers VERY SOON with the standard (!) turbo V8s we have come to know and love from AMG. Look for pricing around 200k when this car makes its way to showrooms about a year from today. Worst thing about it so far?  The name?  This is the AMG GT … …

Mercedes-AMG GT by PRIOR DESIGN – PD800GT Widebody Aero Upgrades Include Ducktail Rear Wing!

Brace yourself: this new Prior Design AMG GT-S is one of the most intriguing supercar upgrades available at any price. The brand-new AMG GT and GT-S are clearly a huge achievement over the SLS. More beautiful, more fun to drive and of course, much faster… the new AMG GT also broadens the appeal of the SLS supercar via a 50-percent price cut. A base price for this ultra wide and low supercar from just $135k for the US GT-S throws the car right in the middle of Porsche 911 Turbo and Bentley Continental GT V8S lineups. But the intensity of …

2015 Mercedes-AMG GT S – Colors, Wheels and Options Visualizer

Considering how obsessed we are with the new AMG GT, it is somewhat surprising not to have explored the configurator yet. First observations: they are all gorgeous! Barely a bad style combo to be found — and some excellent ones hiding in the styling pack options. Semi surprising is that the AMG GT-S is the base model. No regular GT is available stateside, just the top power model. Base pricing is from $129,000 — which feels like exceptional value for such a super-wide and ultra-low machine. Whatever combo you pick among the six wheels, eleven colors and numerous options… you …

PART THREE – The Millbrook Off-Road Course The dirtiest truck in the lot at the end of the day? Not the Unimog or Defender… but the lowly Dacia Duster! Makes sense – off-roading can be perilous. Mercedes-AMG GT Stars in Trippy Virtual-Reality Track Videos

These are seriously freaky in their modernity – and a snippet of Hollywood magic coming to GoPro owners in the future. These two videos of the new AMG GT S on a racetrack can be watched from numerous 360-degree perspectives. Theoretically, each has full HD picture and sound. (In practice, it is not exactly high-definition.) A quick three -step instruction will help you get the most out of these films without a VR headset: — Bursor movement on the playing video changes the perspective — Bottom right globe button makes it super-wide-angle. (Avoid!) — A three-camera selector at the …

AMG GT Starring in New PS4 Racing Game DRIVECLUB from October 8th

The relationship between PlayStation and Mercedes-Benz has been very strong since the AMG SLS was the cover car for GranTurismo 5. That relationship is a three-way affair: among AMG, Polyphony Digital as the GT game developers, and Sony itself in extending the reach of PS4. The new DRIVECLUB game seeks to be a new type of social racing experience — where friends battle one another for track glory both in real-time and as part of championship leagues. Sony hopes to leverage the PS4’s social features in ways that many GT6 drivers do not prioritize. So the AMG GT being …

3.7s 2016 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S Brings 503HP, Alloy Chassis Arriving to USA in Spring 2015

Huge news today from AMG! The eagerly-anticipated AMG GT supercar has arrived in full: 100-plus photos and full launch details below. Two trims will come on the AMG GT: the standard with 463-horsepower and a 3.9-second sprint to 60-mph, or the top-line AMG GT S — which is packing the headline 3.7-seconds from its 503-horsepower slugger. The twin-turbocharged V8 lives in an alloy chassis with a very clever diff setup in back. The transaxle layout mounts the seven-speed auto on the back axle — but does not include 4Matic AWD at this time. Style-wise, the AMG GT is a huge …
