Dream Garage – Superformance LOLA MkIII Can-Am Spyders

Lola racecars are extremely special for their value-for-money today, racing pedigree, and also their incredibly timeless grace and beauty. This was a racing team directly formed in the late 1950s with one goal: build a car from scratch to win LeMans. The resulting semi-monocoque chassis design – now known as a unibody – was revolutionary at the time of frame-based racers from nearly every other racing company and nearly every single road car. A semi-monocoque? Oh yes. The other part is also pretty advanced for the time: a steel spaceframe for the engine and rear suspension cradle. In fact, the …

HD Road Test Review – 2015 Nissan JUKE Nismo RS Manual

Imagine a core group of Nissan GT-R engineers, drivers and designers set loose on the Nissan Juke NISMO. Task? Take the quickest and most performance-focused crossover, and make it truly track-tight in every way. That is how the Juke Nismo RS came into this world — with astounding results. The speed, style and drive experience of the Nismo RS is absolutely incredible versus its $28k competitors — and even versus pricier cars like the AMG GLA45, WRX or Mustang EcoBoost. The Juke Nismo RS is incredibly focused from first sitting in its racing Recaro hard-back bucket seats. A pair of …

2015 Range Rover Sport SVR – Track Video at Monticello + 140 New Photos

UPDATED 6.15.15 Fresh video and a huge photo set of the new RRS SVR around Monticello Country Club! The truck sounds fantastic and displays very little body roll in this five-tenths track drive — which bodes very well for the sportiest Range Rover of all time. Will it be able to cut it with the deeply impressive Grand Cherokee SRT, X5M and Porsche Cayenne? What about the new GLE63 AMG — which will come in both standard SUV shape and a new X6-like GLE Coupe? That remains an open question. The 162-mph Vmax and 4.5-second official 60-mph sprint times are …

2016 Honda HR-V Looks Damn Good in 88 New Photos

Updated 5.26.15 With 88 New Photos We struggled for a minute on this headline — but there is no mistaking the meaning: the 2016 HR-V’s design looks sublime in this new photo set. Even in its dark Steel Grey, the swoopy lines and stance of the HR-V are clear winners. We see LED lighting out back, but none up front. Even so, the nose of the HR-V is one of its coolest angles. The deep grille with its dark crossbar up top is very convincing. A sport grille is available, as are some cool multi-spoke alloys – as shown …

2014 Pagani Zonda Revolucion Adds DRS Dynamic Downforce + 50HP for Ultimate Time-Attack Prowess

If the 2009-2010 Pagani Zonda R is shocking in its depth of changes versus the ‘regular’ Zonda, this R-EVO model honors the near-perfection of the original model. Even so, the ‘Evo’ version of any supercar is generally far better. Benefiting from real-world tuning and production tweaks, the Zonda Revolucion is no exception to this rule. Power from the AMG V12 is up to 800 ponies, while the on-track dynamics are massively enhanced by a new Drag Reduction System out back. Controlled via a steering-wheel button, DRS can selectively engage as needed on track, or a two-second push of the button …

Vorsteiner GTRS4 Anniversary Edition Wears Superhero Blue over Red Wheels

Vorsteiner has swapped Austin Yellow Metallic for Yas Marina Blue on their latest GTRS4 widebody special — this car celebrating 10 years of outrageous tuning for exotic cars. Among the few colors offered by the factory on the M4, Yas Marina Blue is probably the best of the lot. They are mostly pretty boring and/or ugly colors — aside from white and black, of course. BMW Individual offers a gorgeous Fire Orange, but it is a $6k option that requires a long lead time via factory pre-order. Vorsteiner is the opposite, though. They are wasting no time shipping their full …

2016 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Revealed – Six Engines + New Style and Tech To Replace ML-Class SUV

Meet the next Mercedes ML-Class SUV — which is packing an all-new style up front, a six-pack of new engines and vastly improved technology in the cabin. The most striking change might be the badge itself, however. Called the GLE-Class, this change reflects the new naming strategy across the board for Merc SUVs. GLA, GLK, GLE, GLE Coupe and GLS at the top of the range. The hardy G-Class SUV sticks to its single-letter nomenclature, but its AMG models are now ‘Mercedes-AMG G63’ versus the ‘G63 AMG.’ The nose is a fantastic upgrade to the fairly tired style of …

2015 ARIEL Nomad – Exclusive Digital COLORIZER

This Ariel Nomad is a very cool piece of news – even as CES is in full swing and Detroit is starting to build momentum ahead of press parties starting on Sunday. We’ve spent a bit of time in photoshop to create an exclusive color visualizer for the new Nomad — with our skills obviously best able to create bright, Skittles-style shades. We’ve also lightened and darkened the wheels for a few ideas of what the gloss-black optional rims might look like. This car seems like it is *perfect* for the X-raid class of rallying, and as such there are …

3.3s 2015 ARIEL Nomad – Tech Specs, Options and Full-Throttle Testing Video!

Updated 1.6.2015 If anything, the real-life Ariel Nomad is even cooler than last week’s teaser renders indicated. Power is a stout 235-ponies, the Yokohama 35-inch mud tires are insane, and the options list will make you start drooling onto your touchscreen. Is there any downside to the ultra-light yet super-strong Ariel Atom chassis concept being applied to an off-roader? Not that we can think of. A heated windshield is even offered. The rear-engine playfulness and handling joy seem to apply themselves perfectly to the Nomad’s off-road mission — as well as guaranteeing traction for sprints and heavy braking. The 100-kph …

HD Road Test Review – 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG S-Model

Updated 1.5.2015 With 63 New Photos   When it comes to the rarest of Mercedes-Benz AMG cars and trucks, the S-Models are the absolute top of the pops. And the E63 AMG S-Model 4Matic Estate? The ultimate in rare supercars – the S-Model Estate is certainly up there with the most-exclusive cars available. By our estimates, fewer than 200 total S-Model E63 AMGs will come to the United States per year, but even one is a huge blessing.   The E63 Estate is just one click slower to 60-mph than the S-Model sedan. Rendering a DIY Black Pack for the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe

We mentioned a few times that customizing the excellent 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe would be a quick and simple job as an owner. We’ve digitally envisioned this $500 upgrade from a few angles — and are stunned with the coolness of the results. The rules are simple: no aftermarket parts of upgrades. Just trim tweaks: dipping the wheels in anthracite grey, tinting the windows to 20-percent, and changing the brushed-alloy brightwork into a black chrome or gloss black. The hardest part of this upgrade, and perhaps the only one that would require a body-shop’s assistance for OEM results, is the …

Paris 2014 Motor Show Girls Mega Gallery!

Paris was especially lovely this year in the booth babes department! It helps that Paris fashion week is the week prior to the auto show… so many simply stick around for a bit of extra contract work.   Updated 11.10.14 You can tell how exciting the Dodge and SRT teams are about this car — even from a mile away, the performance of the Charger SRT Hellcat is visibly and audibly awesome. Great job on these photos, too, Dodge — looking fantastic! Favorite features: the special hood with front intake and rear outlet vents, a la the Viper, the clean and un-adorned grille design, and the razor-sharp front lower bumper element. This piece forms a deep and three-dimensional painted splitter element that is sexy as hell. In back, the spoiler and fender vents in the back bumper …

2015 Lexus NX200t F Sport and RC350 Chrome Wrap by 360 Elite Motorworks

How amazing is this NX200t from 360 Elite Motorworks for SEMA? Perhaps the best aspects are the custom bodywork elements – with the rear diffuser particularly cool. Overall the upgrade shows the huge style potential in the NX crossover’s design — which is unique and original from the factory but not nearly as bad-ass and cool as this one.  360 Elite was introduced to the Lexus world this summer with a gorgeous chrome-wrapped RC350 F Sport for NY fashion week — but this NX200t shows what the team can do with more time and budget flexibility!     2015 Lexus …

How is Pagani’s sales team performing in the face of the all-new P1 and LaFerrari? So well!  They are in heaven right now after the US import process finally approved the Huayra after about four years of effort — and more than one real-life crash test. Pagani’s huge rise to greatness has avoided the key pitfall of many hypercar brands: unsustainable growth. Novitec Tridente Maserati GHIBLI Launches With Gorgeous Performance and Style Upgrades

Maserati’s latest sedans suffer from what we call the “Cadillac Problem.” Good design, competitive performance, great equipment and true BMW-battling credentials in almost every way. But one huge deficit is present in the Cadillac and Maserati ranges: coolness. The factory cars wear nerdy wheels, nerdy colors and overall seem tailored to a geriatric customer base. They are just old lady cars — and that is never something to aspire to own. They …

1984 Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 Is Most-Valuable Post-War Pug?

$251,000 for the Peugeot from the 1980s? A sale price in this realm is by far the most for any post-war Peugeot that was not a LeMans prototype. This result shows the immense passion behind this legendary vehicle – which was hand-assembled and carries the same tubular steel monocoque as the T16 rally cars. The primary difference is in engine power, with this Turbo 16 putting out a relatively paltry 196-horsepower. But at the time, in the mid-1980s, power outputs like that in a mid-engine subcompact was still enough to provide a shocking level of thrust.   1984 Peugeot 205 …

Meet 2016’s Hottest Hypercars: LaFerrari Roadster vs McLaren P1 Spider

We can only take full credit for the McLaren renderings shown here – the LaFerrari Roadster  is from Garrett Bradford’s blog. But pairing up these fantasy renderings seems logical. Both will heavily leverage the folding-top tech from the 458 and 650S cabriolets, with flying buttresses to house parts of the folding hardtop mechanicals and three-piece folding panels to stack compactly above the engine bays. Of course, a flatter tail is definitely sexier — as shown by this unfinished render draft. So, why Spider versions of these hardcore hypercars?
