Ever wondered what would happen if the Ford Raptor left its home in sandy terrain, and attended a high end cocktail party in its best tuxedo? Ford has delivered the answer to this tempting question with the newly updated 2019 F-150 Limited which brings more muscle and newfound luxury to the high end luxury pickup truck segment.
While the Limited does not have the bulk of the 4×4 technology that allows the Raptor to power through every river and climb every sand dune, Ford engineers did the next best thing, and gave it the Raptor’s potent heart. It comes in the form of a 3.5 liter EcoBoost twin-turbocharged V6 which now pumps out 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, versus the 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque wielded by the standard grade Limited. A new dual exhaust system is also standard for 2019, and it allows the truck to make full use of the new soundtrack. These changes can be considered a long overdue response to the 420 horsepower 6.2 liter V8 found in the GMC Sierra Denali, as well as the Silverado High Country and we look forward to seeing for ourselves if Ford has surpassed this lofty benchmark.
In addition to its performance upgrades, the 2019 F-150 Limited also receives several interior enhancements for the new model year. New two-tone Camel Back leather upholstery is on deck, as well as new captains chairs that bundle cooling and massage capabilities to the existing heater function, and even brings better amounts of lumbar support to occupants. A heated steering wheel is also standard, and Ford will even include a laser etched number plaque to symbolize just how distinct your F-150 Limited is from the rest of the pack.
Naturally, being the most opulent F-150 money can buy means access to a whole suite of driving aides. These include standard adaptive cruise control, pre-collision assist, and automatic emergency braking. Lane keep assist and active park assist work seamlessly with the 360 degree camera system, and audiophiles will adore the upscale Harmon & Kardon stereo system. Lastly, buyers can check the box for Pro Trailer Backup Assist. This nifty driving aide allows the F-150 to steer itself in accordance with the course selected via the rotary controller.
Ford did not reveal any pricing information for the 2019 F-150 Limited, but the company did reveal that the updated model will be arriving in dealerships later this year. We suspect pricing will not change too much from the $61,360 base MSRP wielded by the outgoing 2018 model, which would allow it to be on par with rivals from Chevrolet, GMC, and Ram.
