2017 BMW M4 CS Special Edition Bows in Shanghai

BMW just rolled out a middle ground between the M4 competition package and the top-flight GTS road racer.  It is called the ClubSport and this CS nomenclature will serve on future hardcore M models as well.  Atop the CS badge is a CS Special Edition, the most limited-release specials with all the performance goodies standard.

Performance will be incredible, for what its worth.  460HP is the stat, which does seem low for a $120k price estimate in the USA, but its delivery will be the event.  The car has standard sport exhaust and nearly all the GTS upgrades, like CFRP hood, and the latest dual-LED headlights.  OLED tail lights make an appearance too on the CS launch model.

So is it just a GTS without the rear wing?  Pretty much!  It swaps the tall spoiler for a bare-carbon trunklid ducktail.

CS also lacks carbon-ceramic brakes and the roll cage — making it much more liveable.  A fixed chin spoiler swaps in the the adjustable GTS splitter.

Check out the photos below from Shanghai as well as BMW’s official 50-pack of launch images.

The M4 CS is 99-percent set on coming to the USA (and all other M4 markets), likely for the 2018 model year.  A lower-priced variant of CS (but not CS Special Edition) is in the pipeline for 2018.  The CS models will be in limited supply for only the 2017 to 2019 model-years.   It appears the CS is available to order now in Europe with a 116k Euro base price.

A handful of new colors like this San Merino blue are set to debut on the CS.

  • CS colors: San Marino Blue metallic and Lime Rock Grey metallic. Plus, the M4 CS can also be ordered in Alpine White, Sapphire Black metallic or Frozen Dark Blue II (limited availability, est. from November 2017).
