Full-Race Motorsports Mustang

The 2.3-liter EcoBoost® four-cylinder engine debuting with the 2015 Ford Mustang ushers in a new era for pony car performance. Tuners like Full-Race Motorsports are more known for transforming imports into racers, but for the 2014 SEMA show, they’re bringing a very pumped-up pony car. The small turbocharging outfit in Phoenix is developing an extensive kit dubbed “FreakoBoost” for the 2.3-liter EcoBoost. “We’re hand-building it all in-house; it’s a big task for our 15 guys,” notes Eric Marquiss, Full-Race Motorsports logistics manager. Changes include a new intake, a new exhaust manifold, bigger twin-scroll BorgWarner turbocharger, turbo downpipe, intercooler, oil cooler and cat-back exhaust system. The normal EcoBoost output of 310 horsepower and 320 lb.-ft. of torque has been pushed to an estimated 500 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque.
