Hypercar Showcase – 2014 Lamborghini Aventador Trumped Only By Aventador J and Aventador Roadster

As any bull-runner will know: the only thing scarier than one 2,000-pound beast with 18-inch horns on its head is three of them in lockstep sprint.

Such is the Roadster, J — for Jota — and standard Aventador. The J is sold-out and no longer available, which is a huge shame for how amazingly cool its design is. No windshield at all on this one.

Not passing US crash test/ rollover standards is a big issue toward putting the Jota forward to series production versus small-batch. Because even while the US market is no longer Lamborghini’s only cash cow bull, it is still make-or-break for any limited-run hypercar with pricing comfortably above $500,000.

Even so, they are all magnificent. The scale of the machine is hard to grasp from afar or in photos. It is Huge. It is wider-looking than any Humvee, but lower than the I-beam rails of a tractor-trailer-truck.

Everything is near-horizontal when you see the Aventador at a standstill. In motion, it is almost a single plane of material flying ahead. Like an arrow or a giant projectile missile.

But like a missile, bull or bullet — the Aventador will blast through any barrier with its sheer fury of speed, sound and explosive power.
