Concept Flashback – 2000 Ferrari Rossa Concept Speedster Influences Corvette, NC2020 and F12 TRS

The year 2000 Ferrari Rossa concept is a perfect example of some trendy ideas aging poorly, and other genius ideas finally coming of age nearly 15 years later.

The overall shape of the Rossa concept and its surfacing instantly date the machine, sure.

It is too blob-like and too bubbly in every form angle to be competitive today.

But there are a few items that are looking mighty up-to-date, even today in 2014:

— the speedster windshield: still a huge fan of this style, and Ferrari fans are too. The 2014 F12 TRS uses a free-form top part of the glass today.

— The aero strake and carved-out door panels to vent trapped air from the front wheel-wells. This is seen today on the Nissan NC2020 concept most prominently

— The LED blade lights in vertical stack. This was never popular until it just… was. The Ferrari Enzo arguably started the vertical-lighting trend, but every Ferrari since has kept the stacked LED light style moving forward. We now see this on the new Escalade as well as the Corvette Stingray’s…. LED turn blinkers =]
