Travel Adventures – 2014 Honda Accord Coupe Visits Historic Charleston, SC in 300 Photos

How much am I enjoying the exceptional Honda Accord Coupe with a V6 and six-speed manual?

I have snapped more than five full photo shoots of this press loaner car:

  • in the mountains on the Blue Ridge Parkway,

  • at the Seabrook Island beach club,

  • next to a lake somewhere,

  • and at a few picturesque spots in downtown Charleston

The Accord Coupe has been a perfect model in all scenarios. Stay tuned for the full review apart from these photo travel adventures.

This is a seriously handsome car ~ which is why it looks so nice next to colonial mansions in  Charleston, South Carolina.

Do not let the lack of spacing between the houses fool you: every home in this photo set is worth more than $3 million.

The original laws taxed a home based on its street-facing measurements — so all the grand old homes stretch back nearly a block from their narrow front facades.

A similar law excluded porch space from the tax-able area (volume?) — which explains why many Charleston manors have such expansive outdoor living spaces.

But as ever, good fences make good neighbors — to quote English philosopher John Locke when discussing property rights. So with such little space on offer, the “Haves” built large walls for their cherished gardens; presumably to keep out the “Have Nots.”

This first home is undergoing a refresh at the moment, but the pool and walled garden are straight out of an amazing fantasy. Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil is set in Charleston’s sister city: Savannah, Georgia — at homes much like these.

Why so much wealth here? These were the only two deep-water ports America had until the advent of mechanical dredging in the early 1900’s.

It is a fun town. After dark, the Gucci and Louis Vuitton boutiques of King Street lock up for the day.

Shortly after, the many, many bars and clubs fill with Citadel boys and College of Charleston girls…. It becomes a well-mannered Bourbon street on the weekends!

The Accord Coupe fits right into the understated, but very rich style and substance, of this classic city.
