Maserati Celebrates End Of V8 Production With Ghibli 334 and Levante V8 Ultima Editions

It’s hard to believe that Maserati has continuously made V8 engines for over 64 years, with the eight-cylinder powerplant being responsible for some of the most iconic moments in the Italian brand’s long and illustrious history. However, the push for electrification and tightening emissions laws in Europe, is forcing Maserati to end V8 production next year. Before the production lines fall silent, the company is unleashing one last wave of V8-powered models, the 2024 Ghibli 334 and Levante V8 Ultima Editions.

Ultima Editions Promise Epic Retirement Party For Old-School Performance

As the name implies, both the Ghibli and Levante Ultima Editions are powered by the familiar 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that makes 572 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. We loved this engine in the Levante Trofeo that we recently had the chance to review a short while back, and we suspect that buyers will be won over by its charms in the Ultima too. The Ghibli’s 334 designation points to its top speed in metric (206.3 mph for those in countries that don’t use metric.) In addition to the V8, the duo also benefits from other performance updates, including 21-inch Orione wheels, tires made from a special compound designed to be grippier than before, and splashes of carbon fiber accents.

Maserati claims that the models can make the sprint to 62 mph in 3.9 seconds and Maserati claims that an Ultima model will attempt to make the climb up the hill during the Goodwood Festival of Speed alongside an MC20 Cielo and GranTurismo Folgore. Speaking of Goodwood, Maserati will also bring several other models to the event, with the Ultima lineup being joined by the GranTurismo Trofeo and the GranTurismo and Grecale Folgore EV variants.

When Can I Buy One?

Maserati didn’t reveal an exact timeline for when the Ultima models will begin making the trek to dealerships after their time in the spotlight at Goodwood. However, look for the first models to begin making their way to dealerships later this year, with the full rollout being completed shortly after. Pricing info was also not revealed but look for the duo to command a sizable premium over their slightly more mainstream cousins.
